Our Vocation
Vocational discernment is based on the conviction that God calls through human instruments and means.
There are, therefore, certain criteria by which the call of God is judged in the external form.
During the candidacy period of one year, past life patterns and choices will predict whether the candidate will have success in the endeavour called religious life. By looking at behaviour skills such as relationships, trust, good judgment, emotional stability, etc., the discerner in accompaniment with a spiritual director will use these as a basis for discussion.
During this time, recommended scripture passages, suggested reflection questions, discussion with the director, journaling, etc., will make up the pre-entrance program along with apostolic ministry.
Dual Vocation
CPS religious life has a dual vocation, which means that as Missionary Sister of the Precious Blood must fulfill the roles of both religious and missionary.
Vocation as Religious
A life of consecration, following Christ more closely.
Vocation as Missionaries
A life of proclaiming the Gospel and sharing God’s love with the world.
Our Work
As a missionary congregation we work primarily for evangelization among people and nations who do not know Christ and his Gospel.
Aspirants
The woman in pre-entrance becomes aware of her call from God and responds to it in freedom, develops a life of prayer and faith, becomes aware of a call for a service (mission), becomes acquainted with the congregation with her and gives evidence of a certain degree of human and Christian maturity, openness to guidance and the ability to live in community.
Postulancy
The postulant further develops her life of faith and prayer, which will enable her to freely respond to God’s call. Grows through spiritual direction and guidance. Discerns and manifests her capacity for community life, and becomes familiar with the congregation and its various apostolates. Learns to appreciate the congregation’s international and multicultural character and its mission.
Novitiate
Deepens her personal relationship with Christ which will enable her to make a free and full commitment to God’s call. Grows awareness and acceptance of self, grows into a deeper maturity through spiritual direction and guidance. Identifies with the Charism and Inner Spirit. Practices the living of the evangelical counsels. Enters into the Paschal Mystery living. Appreciates / experiences multicultural living. Becomes aware of the world’s needs for redeeming love through a gradual involvement in our CPS mission.
Temporal Professed
The temporary professed sister is accompanied towards: a total surrender to God through living the evangelical counsels according to our constitutions, towards a deeper identification with the charism and the mission of our congregation as expressed in the constitutions and Inner Spirit, As he integrates her religious life and missionary life, as she takes responsibility for herself, community and congregation, in her openness to growth and spiritual direction, as she experiences our congregation in its international and multicultural character.
Our Perpetual Vows
“Receive me, O Lord, according to your promise and I shall live, and you will not disappoint my expectation.”
